A dedicated chronicler of the good life, I write about food and drink, particularly about how they thrive, mutate and intersect in the Pacific Northwest. Over the span of ten years, I gained crucial experience interviewing subjects, establishing sources and writing on deadline on staff at two newspapers (Willamette Week and The Portland Tribune), smoothing a transition to the unruly, self-directed world of freelance journalism. Now, I contribute to The Oregonian—co-authoring Platter, a weekly column concerning restaurant news and views—Portland Monthly, Travel Oregon, Northwest Palate, Alaska Airlines, Restaurant Business Magazine and others. Chronicle Books will publish my first, full-length book, Pacific Northwest: The Ultimate Winery Guide, in May 2007.
In 2002, I began a secondary career as a producer of digital content for clients including Nike and Downstream Digital. I currently produce audio fitness workouts, athlete playlists and more for the Nike Sport Music site within Apple’s iTunes Music Store. Working with musicians, athletes and fitness trainers, and bridging relations between these two mega-brands satisfies and stimulates an intense curiosity about the way things work.
